I Paint

It was nice hearing from my friend Ellie. I haven't talked to her in a while, but she had heard about the storms and sent a concerned text to me a few days ago. She has always been so thoughtful. She's a bright light in this world.
Anyways, way back when we use to hang out on the ebay artist discussion boards together, and talk about laugh about all those thing we held dear, she shared a picture of her dog Sparkie. I painted Sparkie in the above painting, and everytime I see this picture it reminds me of those conversations from long ago.

Skype and contemporary art.

So, I decided to hang out in skype-land for a bit this afternoon and blurt out whatever came to mind. I shared a link to Shine, and babbled on about this and that. We watched Annie Lennox and David Bowie do a rendition of Under Pressure via youtube and commented how youtube has opened our eyes to a whole new experience. In the midst of our brooding over interior design and the heat in Texas, I was given a link to art by Michael Cutlip (click on his painting below titled Onward to go to his website). His site is pure eye candy.

We browse and we listen and we see together.

Crows... my newest art purchase.

AF Norling is one of my favorite artists. Apparently she has a thing for crows (and so do I) .Her work is quite extraordinary. Her layering of old letters/paper/ephemera is so intricate and intriguing. She calls it contemporary mixed media, I call it wonderful. The collage layering takes on a time worn vintage look, that I love, love, love. I am happy to have been able to get this piece from her!

A sock monkey's quest.

Sock Monkey
I sent this sock monkey out into the world around Christmas time without a tail. He returned to me in an epic quest for a tail, and now he has one. The end. :D
